A World Built With Care

Smoke hangs over the streets of Lankhmar, City of the Black Toga. Thieves slip through the alleys, the mummified Gods of Lankhmar stir in their temple, and somewhere in the shadows, something the world believed extinct for millennia has begun to hatch.

Fritz Leiber gave us Nehwon in his tales of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser. Our DM, ptahsekhet, has kept it alive at the table since 1985, and what he has built on it is remarkable.

Rather than replace Leiber's canon, he folded it in. Nehwon became one continent of M'Brell, so four decades of stories could stand beside brand new ground. Magic is rare enough to turn heads, and a full timeline spans thousands of years. He even built a working Lankhmarian language, with a translator tool of over 20,000 entries.

And M'Brell deserves its own bow. It is his world: a small planet circling a dim orange star called Sonne, watched by two moons, the bold and ever present Traveler and the Dark Lady, who seldom appears and always brings an omen. Nehwon is only one of its lands. The rest, and every story Leiber never told, are his own creation, still being written.

A Table That Writes

The players match his effort. The party known as the Heretic (Eloryn, Dorian, Lilly, Cathlynn, and our newest arrival, Iri) treats roleplay as a craft. Sessions are written up as reports, players put their characters' inner thoughts on the page, and the DM hands out report cards that reward restraint and quiet moments as much as big swings. Some of the best scenes happen without a single die rolled.

CALL FOR #TUESDAYFICTION

Amazing news there were 19 tweets on #TuesdayFiction last week. It is getting enough visibility that other people out in the world are using the hashtag in their tweets now! 15 of the tweets were World Anvil articles, go us!
Some of the people that posted tweets with us had over 20,000 followers. The potential impressions went from 6400 the previous week to 800000 last week - I'm using trackmyhastag.com to get an estimate. To get a bigger share of those potential impressions be sure to like World Anvil posts and retweet (recommend retweeting 3 based on what I have heard about the algorithm, do more if you want of course!)
There are already a couple of tweets up today but let's get to it! and Thanks!
My Tweet: More #TuesdayFiction delivered to you from the Anhult Wildlands. They say Ardelis' Arrows never miss. This group of hunters and farmers took on the job of protecting the forest. Would you be an Arrow? https://worldanvil.com/w/anhult/a/becoming-an-arrow-rank #WASummerCamp #dnd #dnd5e #ttrpg
(My article has a dnd pitch so use hashtags that work for you. #worldbuilding, #worldanvil, #writing are other good hashtags)
